Happy Easter 2012

Happy Easter
or should I say HOPPY ?
Here's my "grand bunny" Skippy,
Photo compliments of my daughter Kelsey Ann Photography

Hopefully you had a great day, celebrating the holiday "He is Risen" and enjoying family time.  We enjoyed a wonderful (& emotional) church service and then spent time with the youngest here at the house.

In an effort to share my "style" with you, I thought I'd share a few pictures of one area that actually "came together" like I wanted.  A little background: I gained a sewing room when my daughter moved out (almost 2 years ago now) and I immediately began deciding how to decorate.  It had been a long time since I felt I had a room I could do anything I wanted with!  I had been given a beautiful quilt by a dear friend, which started the theme of black and white with red accents.  I had several antiques to include, my grandmothers Singer sewing machine and a lovely wash stand, so the feel of the room was coming together well.   I wanted to include some old sewing related items, so put them together on a modern bookshelf;

A few antique bobbins, an old pie pan, some previous notes cards
and mason jars filled with old thread and sewing items . .

A treasured porcelain "quilt" from my sister Donna,
a fun new mirror and some beautiful silver on a doily

Glad to have you stop by and come back soon, I hope (fingers crossed) to launch my shop this week,
Blessings, Sharon

Good day to warm your buns !

HAPPY SNOW DAY
Well actually it's NOT a snow day for schools around here ( although it was yesterday) but snow has fallen for the past 24 + hours and it's so very pretty outside with about 6 inches of pure white snow, until my dogs went out and ran around in it at least ;)
The great thing about living in the mountains, is that this snow will be gone in a day and the sun will again shine bright!
Oh how blessed I am to live in the mountains.
Sorry, back on track to the subject today . . keeping your buns warm

Don't you just love it?
It's a West Bend bun warmer and it's actually in pretty good shape considering I found it on a shelf at my favorite thrift store, WITHOUT a box.  I did a little research after I picked this up and the words and cute lady have worn off many that I saw listed, so I'm thrilled to have found this one that is so clear and intact.   I know the picture is difficult to see the detail (how do you photograph shinny stuff without the glare!?!?!), but it has a cooper color lid, with silver base and a silver insert that allows you to "steam" your buns !!!

Is this what you expected from the title ??

Anyway - I'm working on setting up my Etsy shop, so this may be listed for sale soon, along with other good vintage items and handmade treasures!
SO STAY TUNED!!

Enjoy your day and please free free to leave me a comment
and let me know what your weather is like today,

Baskets of Blessing, Sharon

Blog Birth Day !

WELCOME TO FAIRFAX LANE
Where to begin . . . Fairfax Lane was born from my love of all things old, antique, vintage and sometimes just fun.  I began collecting years ago when my Dad & I would go to auctions together; furnishing my first apartment with some of those auction wins and garage sale finds.  I took a break from collecting for several years to have children but I still treasured those finds from my youth.
It wasn't until the Spring of 2011 that my roots returned to my heart, as my daughter and I started shopping for her dream wedding that she envisioned as vintage rustic.  After days, weeks and months of hunting for the prefect items, we pulled off a perfect mountain wedding and my addiction had been rekindled.
So, join me as I highlight and share some of the great finds.
Your comments are always welcome,
Sharon
