SHE SAID YES

Yep I did . .  I said yes!!
For those of you that need an update, see my post below dated June 23, 2012
The past two weeks have been very busy for our town.
The Waldo Canyon Fire started the day of my last post and crept closer, then a third of our town was evacuated and we were put on pre-evacuation notice.
Here is a view from our house on June 26, 2012.
The fire was approximately 3 miles away at this point.
The fire is now 98% contained and we are basically out of danger!
THANK YOU FIRE FIGHTERS AND ALL THOSE WORKING TO KEEP US SAFE!!
But now, back to the "She Said Yes"; I spoke with the owner last night of the Fire-ball camper.  WOW how ironic that the manufacturer name has kind of been our theme for the past 2 weeks. . odd don't you think?  Anyway, during all the real fire activity, she was unable to access her emails, and when she finally did last night, she discovered a LOT of emails making inquires.  We had discussed it enough, that she gave me first right and I agreed to purchase the precious camper.   So, we will meet again, on Wednesday to complete the deal.  Yepee !!!  I'm so excited I can't wait to get in there and clean her out and make her mine, or ours, since my daughter will be using her too!
Now for a name ??
On a vintage find note, here are a few Pyrex items I picked up recently . . .
A beautiful purple . . .  Pyrex #326 4.0 l
Love the texture :)

Or this Pyrex # 443 2.5 l

And last but not least, a non-Pyrex
#443 - simply marked Ovenproof & Dishwasher Safe
Interestingly, this one was given to me by a friend who actually went diving into a dumpster for it.  Don't think badly of him, he saw the trash can it was tossed from and it actually landed in the dumpster unbroken, so he retreived it for me!
Is that a friend or what?  Thanks Joe

So more camper pictures will be coming soon, but for now, remember to tell then ones you care about that you do; be prepared, as I've learned from this fire, there's no time, when time is the only thing you wish you had!

Happy Monday and see you next time,
Sharon

Finally, I'm back !!

How has it been this long since I've blogged?!?!?  I must say, my life isn't exiting all the time, but not as boring as this lack of blogging might indicate!
So my latest obsession is vintage campers
such as this one from my new friend, Doreen
Sister #773
Or another camper, Buttercup! I visit her website often and droll over her :)

Aren't they just the cutest ever ?
Or how about this one?
Tyler rebuilt this one below; take the time to visit his blog
to see the process, it's simply amazing!
So, why all this blogging about campers today ?
Well, I have a lead on a 'diamond in the rough' so I decided to share the pictures AND the story that makes me question if she should be ours :)
We were camping with friends at a private campground last year and my vintage loving daughter and I took a drive around to see what was up in the hidden mountain campsites. I came around the corner and saw this
I was intrigued at her cab-over design and the cover built over her to protect her from the weather (by the way all cute campers are "her" in my mind)

We drove around the curve and here she is, cuddled in her little cover

Fast forward to this week as I am browsing Craigslist and found an ad listing a camper at the exact campground, which was odd in the first place, I've never seen anything up there for sale; but when I started looking closer (the pictures were added to the listing upside down, making it a little bit of a challenge)  I realized I knew the camper, it was the cute cab-over one I had looked at last year!  So, I contacted the seller, went to see her and my daughter and I fell in love!  Kelsey snapped a few updated pictures and now we have to make the decision if she's ours or not!
Should she be our little vintage cab-over girl ??

Here are a few pictures from inside (it was hard to get very good ones, since she is pretty compact inside!)
She is painted a pale orange inside - might be a deal breaker for some, but Kels would prefer a painted interior, so that isn't a big deal to us!
Canvas bunk & light (both original I believe)
Cab-over bed above, with dinette below (She did put contact paper on the table, but again not a deal breaker)
Kitchen area with beautiful scalloped accents
Love this little scroll accent too!!

I was able to do some research based on the make and model information the owner provided me from the title and I believe this is a Fire-ball brand
So, now the clock is ticking and we have to decide ..
What do we do ?????
Share your thoughts with me if you have any!
Sharon

PS:  She (the camper) and I were born the same year . . is it fate?

Happy Easter 2012

Happy Easter
or should I say HOPPY ?
Here's my "grand bunny" Skippy,
Photo compliments of my daughter Kelsey Ann Photography

Hopefully you had a great day, celebrating the holiday "He is Risen" and enjoying family time.  We enjoyed a wonderful (& emotional) church service and then spent time with the youngest here at the house.

In an effort to share my "style" with you, I thought I'd share a few pictures of one area that actually "came together" like I wanted.  A little background: I gained a sewing room when my daughter moved out (almost 2 years ago now) and I immediately began deciding how to decorate.  It had been a long time since I felt I had a room I could do anything I wanted with!  I had been given a beautiful quilt by a dear friend, which started the theme of black and white with red accents.  I had several antiques to include, my grandmothers Singer sewing machine and a lovely wash stand, so the feel of the room was coming together well.   I wanted to include some old sewing related items, so put them together on a modern bookshelf;

A few antique bobbins, an old pie pan, some previous notes cards
and mason jars filled with old thread and sewing items . .

A treasured porcelain "quilt" from my sister Donna,
a fun new mirror and some beautiful silver on a doily

Glad to have you stop by and come back soon, I hope (fingers crossed) to launch my shop this week,
Blessings, Sharon

Good day to warm your buns !

HAPPY SNOW DAY
Well actually it's NOT a snow day for schools around here ( although it was yesterday) but snow has fallen for the past 24 + hours and it's so very pretty outside with about 6 inches of pure white snow, until my dogs went out and ran around in it at least ;)
The great thing about living in the mountains, is that this snow will be gone in a day and the sun will again shine bright!
Oh how blessed I am to live in the mountains.
Sorry, back on track to the subject today . . keeping your buns warm

Don't you just love it?
It's a West Bend bun warmer and it's actually in pretty good shape considering I found it on a shelf at my favorite thrift store, WITHOUT a box.  I did a little research after I picked this up and the words and cute lady have worn off many that I saw listed, so I'm thrilled to have found this one that is so clear and intact.   I know the picture is difficult to see the detail (how do you photograph shinny stuff without the glare!?!?!), but it has a cooper color lid, with silver base and a silver insert that allows you to "steam" your buns !!!

Is this what you expected from the title ??

Anyway - I'm working on setting up my Etsy shop, so this may be listed for sale soon, along with other good vintage items and handmade treasures!
SO STAY TUNED!!

Enjoy your day and please free free to leave me a comment
and let me know what your weather is like today,

Baskets of Blessing, Sharon

Blog Birth Day !

WELCOME TO FAIRFAX LANE
Where to begin . . . Fairfax Lane was born from my love of all things old, antique, vintage and sometimes just fun.  I began collecting years ago when my Dad & I would go to auctions together; furnishing my first apartment with some of those auction wins and garage sale finds.  I took a break from collecting for several years to have children but I still treasured those finds from my youth.
It wasn't until the Spring of 2011 that my roots returned to my heart, as my daughter and I started shopping for her dream wedding that she envisioned as vintage rustic.  After days, weeks and months of hunting for the prefect items, we pulled off a perfect mountain wedding and my addiction had been rekindled.
So, join me as I highlight and share some of the great finds.
Your comments are always welcome,
Sharon
